Interim Superintendent Dr. Mark Ernst provides his bi-monthly update -- This week he talks about what happens when there are a large number of employees out due to COVID-19 and what the process is for finding someone to fill-in during their absence. He also encourages parents to volunteer in their child's school.
Applications are open to all students in the district who are entering first grade in the fall of 2021 (except Anna Smith Elementary, which begins its Spanish program in kindergarten).
We have been made aware of another nation-wide trend, where students post a threat regarding gun violence in schools on social media. We believe it originated with TikTok, but it has been seen on Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook as well. Specifically, the viral threat focuses on a shooting at a school on Friday, December 17. Throughout December, Tooele County School District students and staff have been spreading kindness by collecting monetary donations, food, toys, winter clothing items and more for those in need.
This morning it was decided to cancel in-person classes and transition to a remote-learning day. This applies to all schools with the exception of Anna Smith Elementary and Wendover High School.
